Title
Mecklenburg County Opioid Settlements Funding Application - Wave One
Description
Mecklenburg County requests proposals for programs and services to address the opioid epidemic in our community.
Mecklenburg County will receive more than $72 million over the next 18 years as part of the National Opioid Settlements, $50 billion in total agreements, that will bring critical support to help communities harmed by the opioid epidemic.
Mecklenburg County leaders, healthcare partners, providers, stakeholders, those with lived experience and others contributed to developing the Wave One - Opioid Settlement Spending Plan. The spending plan outlines that $10.915 million in funding will be invested across the next two years.
More than $6 million of these funds will be allocated through a competitive community application process. As part of the application process, the County will be accepting submissions for the following categories of opioid treatment and addiction-related services for FY24 and FY25:
• Employment-Related Services - $525,000
• Evidence-Based Addiction Treatment - $750,000
• Early Intervention - $750,000
• Recovery Support Services - $1 million
• Recovery Housing Support - $3 million
Opioid settlement funds may support programs or services that serve persons with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) with any co-occurring substance use disorder (SUD) or mental health condition.
The strategies selected by Mecklenburg County are part of Exhibit A to the North Carolina Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), which outlines appropriate use of these funds and aligns with the National Opioid Settlement Agreement. Applicants should review the full text of the NC MOA and additional information at the NC MOA Resource Center.
Mecklenburg County is committed to investing these funds in projects that:
• Make best use of these limited resources to address the opioid epidemic
• Support equitable outcomes for historically marginalized populations
• Leverage and align with other governmental funding sources
• Meet a minimum threshold of $100K
• Have a lasting impact
